On June 20, 2005, the briefing devoted to the presentation of the recently released tenth disc was held at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatoire. The disc was issued within the Asyl Mura project – the Musical Heritage of Kazakhstan – being implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Sport, the Central State Archives of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the Republic Kazakhstan and the company «Coca-Cola CIS Services Ltd».
The tenth jubilee disc of the Asyl Mura project includes the well-known pieces performed in different years by such outstanding masters of vocal art of Kazakhstan as Ermek Serkebayev, Rosa Dzhamanova, Bibigul Tulegenova and Àlibek Dnishev. The connoisseurs of classical art can listen to the popular Kazakh folk songs and the undying specimens of European opera art.
The names of these singers have been entered into the musical history not only of Kazakhstan, but also of world culture. The combination of two musical traditions – European and national – occurred in the creative art of B. Tulegenova, R. Dzhamanova, E. Serkebayev and A. Dnishev. Initially, it was expected that the disc should include the creative art of the People’s Artists of the USSR from Kazakhstan. However, as all information could not enter one disc, the expert council took the decision to include the art of the People’s Artists of the USSR, who in different years graduated from the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatoire in Almaty. The work on compiling the disc was conducted together with the authors themselves – A. Dnishev, R. Dzhamanova, E. Serkebaeyv and B. Tulegenova.
According to Zhaniya Aubakirova, the rector of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatoire, the Asyl Mura project plays a great role in educating young musicians, that is, those who will continue the traditions of Kazakh musical culture in the 21st century.
For the five years of existence of the Asyl Mura noncommercial project for restoration, digital clearing and transferring of unique sound recordings to digital carriers, 10 presentation compact-discs were issued with the voices of Kulyash Baiseitova, Zhusipbek Yelebekov, Manarbek Yerzhanov, Bolat Sarybayev, Kali Zhantleuov and other folk and professional masters of vocal art. Along with the personal compact-discs, two collections were released: the 6th disc «Founders and Masters of the Opera Art of Kazakhstan» and the present disc «The Outstanding Masters of Vocal Art of Kazakhstan».
As Alla Seitova, director of the Central State Archives of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the Republic Kazakhstan, stressed, the Asyl Mura project contributes enormously to the preservation of musical heritage of Kazakhstan. At the same time, however, there are still many audiovisual documents requiring re-preservation and urgent transfer to the modern carriers. In total, the Central State Archives of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the Republic Kazakhstan has more than 500 000 documents in its repository, among them 250 000 documentary photographs, 50 000 film documents and 15 000 audio recordings (1 500 of them with a signature stamp «Especially valuable documents»).

The 2`d Contest of Traditional Music among the students
On November 22-26, 2004, within the framework of the "Asyl Mura - Musical Heritage of Kazakhstan" project, the 2"d Contest of Traditional Music among the students was held at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatoire.
The Contest of Traditional Music, as part of the Asyl Mura project, was held this year as a republican contest. Initially. It was intended as a contest for the students of the Kazakh National Conservatoire. However, in this year, the students of the National Academy of Music and L. Gumilev Eurasian State University have arrived to Almaly to compete in their virtuosity in playing dombra and kyl-kobyz and in the skill to feel the author's idea. The contest participants competed in two nominations: "Folk Performance'" and "Singing with Dombra"(traditional singing). The jury consisted of Zhaniya Aubakirova. rector of the Kazakh National Conservatoire, Karshyga Akhmediyarov, head of the dombra faculty of the Conservatoire, and Zhanat Rusternova, public affairs and communications manager of Coca-Cola CIS Services LTD.
In the past year, the students of all courses of the folk instruments department of the Conservatoire took part in the contest of traditional music 'Asyl Mura". For many students the participation in the contest became an original start to the professional scene. For example, Asel Alina, the then a 1st year student of the Conservatoire, regards the victory in the contest of traditional music held under the Asyl Mura project (3rd place in nomination "Singing with Dombra") as an important step in her professional career.
The holders of Grand Prix and first places received the nominal stipends in the amount of 5 000 tenge for one academic year from the general sponsor of the Asyl Mura project. Coca-Cola Company. But. as many participants recognized, a really invaluable gift for the laureates was the full sets of compact discs with recordings of the first Kazakh performers, issued as part of the Asyl Mura project.
For the year of its existence, the contest of traditional music within the Asyl Mura project has gained wide popularity with the Kazakhstan performers of folk music. And this interest is no accident. Unfortunately, there arc very few contests in Kazakhstan, which are held among the performers of folk music. Therefore, the appearance of the contest of traditional music within the Asyl Mura project, as a contest for the students, became more than duly and necessary. Given that in Kazakhstan the attention and interest to the folk music has been increasing, it is not excluded that the geography of the contest will only expand with each year.
The Asyl Mura project has already showed itself as one of the most grandiose projects in the newest history of Kazakhstan. If the Asyl Mura project preserves the past, then the recent exhibition and the present contest of traditional music form the future. And in this sense, the importance of the Asyl Mura project cannot be overestimated.

The exhibition within the framework of the Asyl Mura project
On November 9, 2004, the exhibition within the framework of the Asyl Mura project was held in the building of the Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the RK (CSA FPDR)
The exhibition's opening ceremony was attended by Alla Seitova, director of the Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the RK, and Zhanat Rustemova, public and governmental relations manager of the Representatives of Coca-Cola CIS Services Ltd. As guests of the exhibition there were invited the relatives and children of the musicians, whose recordings were restored due to the project. In honor of the exhibition opening a concert was given with participation of the Kazakhstan performers of folk art - the laureates of the contest of traditional music, which was held within the Asyl Mura project.
The exhibition represents an original result of a four-year implementation of the Asyl Mura project. The purpose of the project is the restoration, clearance and transfer of the originals of the unique sound recordings to digital carriers. The founders of the project are the Ministry of Culture, Information and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Representatives of Coca-Cola CIS Services Ltd, Khabar Agency, Kazakhstan Republican Tele-and Radio Broadcasting Company and the "UMS Agency" Public Fund.
For the four years of the project's existence, 8 presentational compact discs were issued, on which the unique voices of famous Kazakh professional performers and founders of the opera art were reproduced, such as Kulyash Baiseitova, Zhamal Omarova, Ìànarbek Erzhanov, Garifulla Kurmangaliyev, Zhusipbek Elebekov, Kali Zhantleuov and the musicologist Bolat Sarybayev. The originals of recordings of these performers, for many years stored on the magnetic films, were demonstrated here, as well as their new digital versions.
The guests of the exhibition received a unique opportunity to see and feel the atmosphere of the concert performances of almost century prescription: the rarity shots of the film dedicated to the first decade of the Kazakh art in Moscow in 1936 were demonstrated in the Archive's cinema hall.
The Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recordings of the RK and the Central State Archive of the RK prepared and displayed a rich exhibition consisting of the correspondence, personal things, musical notations and claviers of Zhamal Omarova, Zhusipbek Elebekov, Kulyash Baiseitova and Bolat Sarybayev, whose recordings were restored under the Asyl Mura project. Among others, the visitors can see the autobiography written by Kulyash Baiseitova herself.
The purpose of this exhibition is to draw attention to the Asyl Mura project, as one of the ways of preserving and restoring the unique audio and film-archives representing a cultural heritage of the people, and to raise efforts in this area.
In total, CSA FPDR has more than 500 000 documents, 250 000 of them are photo documents, 50 000 film-documents and 15 000 audio recordings (1500 of them with a signature stamp "Especially valuable documents "). The major part of audiovisual documents are stored on vulnerable and sometimes shabby magnetic films and require urgent transfer to the modern carriers. About 10 % of audio recording requiring the transfer to modern carriers have been restored by today. The equipment for sound studio delivered within the Asyl Mura project has been working in the intensive regime for over four years. Now it is needed to raise a question on a new set of equipment.
The Asyl Mura project is the first and the sole project so far directed at preserving our cultural heritage. Today, four years after the project's start, it is obvious that its appearance became more than duly. Due to this project, which became possible with the help of financial support of the Representatives of Coca-Cola CIS Services LTD, tens unique recordings have been already rescued.
It is evident that the Asyl Mura project has attracted attention of the state and public to the problems of preservation of the country's cultural heritage in general and the unique archival funds in particular, and served as a catalyst for taking important decisions in this sphere. Within the program for development of the archival business in the RK for the 2001-2005 period, the financing of archives has been increased significantly. Also, the State Program "Cultural Heritage" has been adopted this year.
